How do I get Yahoo Mail filter to filter existing inbox mail?
I already have hundreds of messages in my inbox. Now, I create some folders and filters.
Is there any way to get Yahoo mail to apply the filters to the existing emails in the inbox?
That way I don't have to move each message myself?|||Filters ONLY apply to "Incoming Mail"-----and NOT on Emails already in your inbox.
Those you will have to move yourself----manually.|||.....You will have to "MOVE THEM YOURSELF". That sounds awful, BUT IT CAN BE MADE MUCH EASIER by use of the Search text-box found right under the CHECK MAIL button.
Next you may wish to select options from one or more categories under the NARROW RESULTS List on the right-hand side of the search results screen. You can undo a narrowing by clicking the X to the right of the NARROWED BY display that appears under the NARROW RESULTS heading
(only when you have made one or more narrowing selection(s) ).
For each sufficiently narrowed set of results, select those you wish to mass-move to another folder either by using the individual check boxes to the left of each message OR you can SELECT ALL RESULTANT MESSAGES by using the Check Box that appears in the column-heading line just above the light yellow line that gives the number of emails that "were found matching your search".
The SHOW SNIPPETS check box can also be useful in either setting as you require.
Then use the MOVE button and select the target folder from the drop-down list that will appear.
NOTE: The "moved" messages won't disappear from the results display, but the "Location" column contents will have changed on each of the moved messages.
You can find much HELP with examples for some of this by going to ....
