How can you stop junk email from entering your inbox?

I always get junk mail, and it's not in the spam box, but the inbox. How can I stop it?|||nnneevveerr|||You can not completely stop all spam, but you can help to put a big dent in it.

First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.

Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.

Use your spam filter and block address.

Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it

Options/ mail options / spam preferences

make sure spam guard is on, click on save changes

Options /mail options / blocked addresses

Enter the E-mail address you wish blocked and click on 'add block'

you will never get mail from that address again.

This should help you to control your spam.

Other tips:

Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure who it is from.

Never give out your personal information to anyone.

If you are on a site and you absolutely have to sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you any other info, notices, catalogs, ads, and the like.

Added detail:

Yes, spammers change one item in their addresses a lot, so you might try blocking the entire domain, by putting in

*@ thedomainyouwanttoblock.com

for instance: *@seeyou.com

Hope this helps.|||There are a few ways. First check to see if your internet provider has Spam blocking software installed. You may need to configure the filter to be more strict.

There is also software you can buy that filters your email. Some blocks mail from anyone that is not on your contact list (called a whitelist). Others will just look at the email and filter it based on rules that are designed to catch most spam.

Most email software already has some filtering built in, but you may need to set the filter to be more strict or you may need to update the filter. For instance, Microsoft's Malicious Software Tool had regular updates that need to be installed.

Finally, no spam filter will work perfectly since the spammers are continually learning and changing the way they work. You will need to review your junk file regularly, since a more strict filter will catch more false positives, but a combination of the filter from your ISP plus the filter from your email program plus anything else you add will catch most of it. You may be surprise at how much your ISP is already catching that you never see.

Most important, never reply to any spam - even unsubscribing can tell them they've found a good email address and they will just sell it to more spammers. Remember, the Delete key is your friend when it comes to spam.

Check Download.com or MajorGeeks.com and search for spam filter. There may be some basic ones that are free but still do a decent job.|||You can't you receive it, because you've probably posted your email on a website that sends it to other websites. You just got to empty it like every day.|||Depends on which email system / address you are using but most have an adjustable filter for incoming mail.|||Flag them, and check your settings to the emails you do not want to receive!

Edit: But I think you should check the FAQs page thing too just in case it doesn't work|||Instead of deleting it, and put it the junk folder, then w/e server is sending u it, will go to your junk|||don't give out your email when websites ask for it.

if it's really junked up make a new one.|||Block the emails from the sender....|||mark it as spam|||Flag them and then unsubscribe!|||do you have yahoo... gmail... aol... hotmail... etc.?

maybe you can contact them to ask them or something
